HLT founding school Flixton Girls (FGS) and Wellacre Academy hosted their annual joint primary liaison event, with the aim to support and promote ‘STEM’ - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math’s education.
The event involved nearly 400 year 6 pupils from partner primary schools Acre Hall, Flixton, Highfield, Kingsway, Moss Park, St Marys, Urmston and Victoria Park Primary School taking part with boys visiting Wellacre and FGS hosting the girls.
Students took part in a range of cross-curricular activities, focusing on STEM subjects and also including PE and Computing. The lessons incorporated the national curriculum around STEM including using technology in PE, micro bits in Computing, fruit batteries in Science and algebra in Maths.
Students were given the opportunity to dress up in STEM theme and future doctors, engineers, vets, accountants, builders, coders and more were all in evidence!
